Champions League – A global round-up

AC Milan beat Liverpool in the European Champions League Final earlier this week. Here is a status report over the rest of the world:

  • AFC (Asian Football Federation): The current competition is not finished. In 2006 Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors from South Korea beat Al Karama from Syria 3-2 in the final.
  • CAF (Confederation of African Football): The current competition is not finished. In 2006 Al-Ahly from Egypt beat Club Sportif Sfaxien from Tunisia over two legs 1-1 and 1-0.
  • CONCACAF (North America, Central America, and the Caribbean): CF Pachuca from Mexico beat Chivas de Guadalajara also from Mexico. The results in the two-legged final where 2-2 and 0-0 before CF Pachuca won 7-6 on penalties.
  • OFC (Oceania Football Confederation): Waitakere United from New Zealand defeated 4R Electrical Ba from Fiji on away goals after the two-legged final ended 1-2 and 1-0.
