AS Roma’s Francesco Totti has won the 2007 European Golden Boot. The trophy has been awarded to Europes top scorer since the 1967-season. Previous winners have included Eusébio, Gerd Müller, Ian Rush, Marco van Basten and David Taylor. Taylor won the trophy in 1993-94 thanks to his 43 goals for Porthmadog in the Welsh League. In 1996-97 the rules where changed to a weighted system of points where goals scored in leagues with a UEFA coefficient gained more points than goals scored in smaller leagues.
The two other winner’s from the Welsh league are Tony Bird (42 goals for Barry Town in 1996-97, he shared the trophy with Barcelona’s Ronaldo) and Marc Lloyd Williams (47 goals for Bangor City in 2001-02, he shared the trophy with Mário Jardel).
