Rochdale lost their opening match of the 2007-8 season 3-0 away at Peterborough. The Posh who are tipped by many to be one of League 2’s leading club scored twice in the first half – Low (10 mins.) and Mclean (44 mins). A crowd of 5,575 at London Road saw Crow complete the 3-0 victory with a goal in the final minute for the game.
Peterborough are managed by Alex Ferguson’s son Darren.
In midweek the club’s attention moved to the first round of the Carling Cup. Rochdale met Stoke City from the Championship at Spotland. Shawcross netted for Stoke after only four minutes play. Stoke held the lead until the Perkins scored for the home side. The cup tie went to extra time. This time it was Rochdale who took the lead when Prendergast scored after 11 minutes of extra. Five minutes into the second half Cresswell grabbed an equaliser to send the tie to penalties. Rochdale secured the victory by winning the shootout 4-2. A crowd of 2,369 saw the match.
