  • English Premier League: Mido scores on debut for Middlesbrough. Boro win 2-1 at Fulham.
  • English Premier League: Tottenham gain first points of the season as they beat Derby 4-0 at White Hart Lane.
  • English Premier League: Wigan beat Sunderland 3-0 thanks to two second half penalities.
  • English League One: Despite 100% record Leeds remain bottom of the table on -9 points after 4-1 home win over Southend.
  • German Bundesliga: Toni and Ribery score for Bayern Munich in 4-0 away win at Werder Bremen.
  • North American MLS: A crowd of 66,237 at the Giants Stadium see home team New York Red Bulls win 5-4 over LA Galaxy. Ex-Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel scored the winner two minutes from time, his second the game.
  • Scottish Premier League: Rangers win 7-2 at home over Falkirk. Five goals in the second half, including three in the matches final minutes sends Rangers to the top of the table.
  • French Ligue 1: Lorient give Lyon second away defeat of the season. Lorient are level on points with Le Mans at the top of the table after four games. Nancy are one point behind with a game in hand.
  • Belgium Jupiler League: Gent and Brugge retain 100% records after third round of matches.
  • Portugal: Sporting (Friday) and Porto open season with wins while Benfica draw away at Leixoes.
