  • English Premier League: Manchester Utd win 1-0 at Birmingham thanks to a second half goal by Ronaldo. United have scored only seven goals in eight league games.
  • English Premier League: Chelsea fail to score again and Fulham hold them to a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge. Drogba is sent off in his return after injury.
  • English Premier League: Portsmouth hit Reading for seven in an 11 goal thriller at Fratton Park. Zimbabwian striker Mwaruwari scores three for Pompey.
  • English Championship: Watford are held 1-1 at home by Blackpool but remain top.
  • English League One: Leeds drop first points of the season when they draw 1-1 at Gillingham.
  • Spanish La Liga: Henry scores three for Barcelona in a 4-1 away win at Levante. Messi nets Barcas fourth. Barcelona move to the top of the table one point above Real Madrid who play at Getafe on Sunday.
  • Italian Serie A: Inter crush 10 man Roma 4-1 in Rome to move to the top of the table.
  • German Bundesliga: Bayern Munich win 1-0 at Bayer Leverkusen thanks to a goal by Toni. Bayern remain four points clear of Schalke who beat Hertha Berlin 1-0 on Friday night.
  • German Bundesliga: Werder Bremen win 8-1 over Arminia Bielefeld.
  • French Ligue 1: Lyon win 3-0 at home to Lens. Lyon are now level at the top of the table with AS Nancy who have a game in hand.
  • Portuguese Liga Benfica vs Sporting ends goalless. Porto beat Boavista 2-0 to retain 100% record.
