22-10-1929: Russian goalkeeping legend Lev Yashin was born on this day in 1929. Yashin who was nicknamed the Black Spider because of his all-black outfit played all his career for Dynamo Moscow. He made 326 appearances for the Moscow club between 1949 and 1971.
Yashin is the only goalkeeper to have won the European Footballer of the Year award (1963). Gianluigi Buffon (Italy and Juventus) was voted second in 2006, Oliver Kahn (Bayern Munich and Germany) was voted third both in 2001 and 2002 and Dino Zoff (Italy and Juventus) was voted second in 1973.
