On This Day – Bryan Robson Scores Fastest Goal at Wembley

13-12-1989: On this day in 1989 Bryan Robson scored the fastest goal in a senior match at Wembley when he scored after 38 seconds of a friendly against Yugoslavia. Robson also scored the second goal in the 2-1 victory.

England’s line-up: Shilton; Parker, Pearce, Butcher, Walker; Michael Thomas, Rocastle, Robson, Waddle; Bull, Lineker

The previous record was Jackie Milburn‘s goal after 45 seconds of the 1955 FA Cup final.

Robson also scored the fastest goal in any World Cup finals since 1962 when he scored after 27 seconds of the 3-1 victory over France in the 1982 World Cup in Spain.
