18-1-1964: On this day in 1964 George Best, Bobby Charlton and Denis Law played together for the first time. Manchester United traveled to the Hawthorns to meet West Bromwich Albion in a First Division clash. United won 4-1 with two goals by Law and one each from Best and Charlton. A crowd of 25,624 watched the match.
The United team that day was: Gaskell, Dunne, Cantwell, Crerand, Foulkes, Setters, Herd, Moore, Charlton, Law and Best.
Manchester United where runners-up to Liverpool in the 1963-64 season but the next season with their three stars present from the start resulted in United winning their first League title after the 1958 Munich Disaster.
