On This Day – West Ham Score Ten

Tony Cottee25-10-1983. West Ham set the record win in the League Cup by hammering Bury 10-0 in a second round tie on this date in 1983. The record was equaled by Liverpool three years later when they walloped Fulham 10-0 also in a second round encounter.

Tony Cottee scored four, Brooking and Devonshire two each, and Martin and Stewart one each. 10,896 watched the match at Upton Park.

West Ham defeated Brighton in the next round before losing to Everton in a fourth round replay.
