FC United of Manchester, the team founded in protest at the Glazier takeover of Manchester United, are through to the second round of the FA Cup. A dramatic last minute winner at Spotland sent The Red Rebels through to the next round. Rochdale had come back from 0-2 to 2-2 in a second half recovery and looked the stronger team in the closing minutes. But Michael Norton scrambled the ball from the Rochdale keeper in the fourth and final minute of stoppage time to decide the cup tie that was played in front of 7,000 supporters.
A great advertisement for English football. 90 minutes of end-to-end entertainment. 100% effort, sliding tackles, drizzle, passion, no complaining, no acting and a cracking atmosphere.
