Non-League Crawley Town Reach the Fifth Round of the Cup

A Matt Tubbs‘ goal 6 minutes before the break decided the Fourth Round tie between League Two team Torquay and Crawley Town who are second in the Conference. Crawley become the first non-league team since Kidderminster Harriers in 1994 to reach the Fifth Round. Only six non-league teams have advanced so far in the FA Cup’s 111 year history:

  1. Colchester 1948
  2. Yeovil 1949
  3. Blyth Spartans 1978
  4. Telford 1985
  5. Kidderminster 1994

None of them won their Fifth Round ties. Maybe The Red Devils from West Suusex will be the first?

  2. Thanks for the comment, Paul.

According to Wikipedia Wigan beat Carlisle in the First Round, Torquay in the Second Round, but where knocked out by Millwall in the Third Round:

I’m wondering if the BBC actually mean since the war, as Tottenham WON the Cup as a non-league team in 1901. There where of course only two league divisions at the time.
